Tell Me, Where Did You Sleep Last Night?

thrifted jaguar applique sweatshirt
nude and white leather shorts from Forever 21

The snow is melting, it is finally Spring (even though some days it doesn't feel like it), and it is time to get outside and pretend like we aren't growing up.  After a lovely weekend in New Jersey/New York, I am trying to prepare myself for a week of nothing but sewing in preparation for model fittings this coming Sunday.  For those who don't know, I am designing for my first fashion show on April 13, and I am far from ready.  I feel like I'm on Project Runway with the stress and time restraint to finish my designs and alterations.  But, it's so exciting!

Aside from that, I did get some good shopping in this weekend, including these shorts which I scoured up and down a two floor Forever 21 to find in my size.  This sweatshirt is one of my new thrifted finds, I love the jaguar applique and the oversized feel.

Reflections, Refractions by Maria Eisl

I love these abstract shots by experimental fashion photographer and artist Maria Eisl.  The photos perfectly encapsulate the clothing and style while being completely ambiguous.  Maria has some really great work up on her site that is definitely worth checking out.

"I hope she'll be a fool -- that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool."
-F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

Sometimes I like to couple my passion for literature with blog posts.  This usually entails adding a good book to a outfit collage or using a character in a novel as inspiration for a certain look.  In this post, I am actually wearing literature.  This t-shirt, from Litographs, is printed using the actual text from The Great Gatsby, one of my favorites.  Litographs creates one-of-a-kind t-shirts and posters using this and other great works of literature.  Their screen-printing process is unique and nonstandard, making each piece a work of art.  They even donate a book to a community in need with each purchase.

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you've probably noticed the new layout and design.  I've decided to take the blog in a semi-different direction.  I am making it more personal, and am using it to push myself creatively.  I realize how vague that sounds, but we will figure out what that means together.  I am really excited for the change, and I hope that you can appreciate and enjoy it.

These boots are actually my roommate's, but I plan on stealing them all the time.  I need to get myself a good pair of ass-kicking boots.  I'm looking for something Sid & Nancy meets colonial equestrian, preferably in black, and would look awesome with a pair of cut-offs.  If you have any suggestions...

White hot has been a persistant theme on the blog recently.  This editorial for Elle Mexico captures some perfect, edgy looks.  I might also be stealing her eye makeup for a special night out.

Us Fish Must Swim Together

This weekend me and my boyfriend took a trip to Erie, PA to visit my best friend at her school.  On the way back we stopped at Presque Isle State Park to shoot this gorgeous vintage-inspired swimsuit I had received from Beverly Swimwear.  All of Beverly's work is hand-crafted, customizable, and perfect.  I am in love with the suit I received - it fits me perfectly, and is completely unique.  The back cut-outs are my favorite part.  I cannot wait until this summer when I can wear it all the time!

Sometimes the planets align and everything is perfect.  Despite my super-obvious goose bumps, it was a gorgeous day out - about 45 degrees F, which is warmer than it has been in weeks.  The shore was sheltered in floating ice packs that made it indistinguishable from the snowy sanddunes of the beach.  I felt like I was visiting Antartica, I have never seen anything like it.  I am so glad that we stopped, and I hope you enjoy our photos from the visit.

We just returned to a beautiful day in State College, but the romantic venture is still swimming through my mind.  Tomorrow it's back to class, but no time to think about that now.  I'm going to enjoy today with my boyfriend and wait for my roommates to return.  Us fish must swim together.
